D5000 Camera Reviews

The D5000 camera got rave reviews on cnet.com buying guide. The editors said the camera delivered a nice kit lens, fast performance video capture, built-in wireless flash controller and great photo quality for the money. The user rating was 41/2 stars out of 5!

In the CNET editors’ review, Lori Grunin reported that there were plenty of significant changes in the eagerly awaited model for under $1,000 kit segment. In place of the CCD that it typically uses on entry-level units, Nikon switched to a CMOS sensor. It stands to be a worthy opponent for the more costly D90 in terms of price and features. Featured are the improved AF system and the brand new flip-down-and-swivel LCD. The D5000 face priority AF, enhanced Live View AF, connector for GP-1 hot shoe GPS, and Auto Active D-Lighting in a newer version of the Expeed image processor. It supports direct wireless upload when you use an Eye-Fi card. The D5000 is available in two configurations, body only and a kit with the 18-55mm VR lens. Constructed of polycarbonate over stainless steel, the D5000 weighs a few ounces more than the D60 but about 4 ounces less than the D90.
